Blood Donation Day
Watch the video to learn how your body works!
- As mentioned above, these blood groups determine our compatibility for blood transfusions:
| A patient in group: | can receive blood from a donor in group: | |||||||||||
| 1st choice | 2st choice | 3st choice | 4st choice | |||||||||
| AB | AB | A | B | O | ||||||||
| A | A | O | ||||||||||
| B | B | O | ||||||||||
| O | O | |||||||||||
- This table illustrates that people with AB blood are universal recipients because they can receive blood from anybody, and those with O blood are universal donors because they can give blood to anybody.
Metropolis and cities
We are going to make a little research about Mataró to learn how it used to be 100 years ago, and we are going to compare it to present day Mataró.
1. Find information to answer the following questions:
- How many people lived in Mataró 100 years
ago? And now?
- What transports used to be in Mataró?
- How many schools were there?
- What kind of schools were they?
- What degrees did they give?
- And now, what formative levels are available?
- What degrees can you obtain now in Mataró?
- What about school resources now and then?
- Where there any factories?
- Which were the main sectors of the city?
Watch the video and pay attention to the drawings of one of the most famous urban architects' studio (atelier) in France.
Use a Power-point file to present your research:
1. Look for a map of the city 100 years ago and compare it to a present day map.
2. Take a map from Mataró and use colors to mark the neighbourhoods following the model drawings of the architect.
Use another map to draw lines with different colors to show the main avenues, motorways and railways to show how the city is connected. Do you think it is important to include geographical aspects on your map? If so, include them!
Now go to the Writing Workshop section and write Essay 1 following the instructions!
